I bought it because it's a birth year guitar for me and it seemed to be in great shape. I didn't want to take away from Mav's cool '70s thread so I waited a bit to post. Also it's a CE100D-Special because it has Kolb tuners. At least I assume that's why it says -special on the label.

Tonally it's an absolute monster. I think it's made me want to seek out an earlier dual-franz guitar like a T100D.

That's a beauty and the Kolb tuners are bonus! Enjoy!

Wow, Gary. Congrats on this one! Yeah, I think the Kolb tuners make the piece special, no doubt. Birth year guitars are always a great acquisition, and very difficult to resist. My '65 D-50 braz. represents my first year at college. Its vibes remind me of the folk music of that time. Somehow, it's just different sounding than later models. Maybe I'm hallucinating. :alien: Wouldn't be surprised as I smoked a lot of *****!

and thanks for the "social distancing" of threads...although totally not necessary...would like to check out ur hoboken version sometime!

Yeah man! We need another LetsMeetGuild and we can do a live CE100D-off!

Those tuners are very cool! If that's a birth year for you, I'm feeling old!

BTW, what's the nut width on that?

My '66 X-500 came with Kolb tuners, can't say I ever looked to see if it is a "Spec" or not.

Can I bring my '66 CE-100D to the party?

And then since it's a CE-100 shoot-out, I'll bring my '84 CE-100 (They had dispensed with the "D" by then.)

Maybe we can get Billy D. Light to stop by with his CE-100D, he's somewhat local!

Beautiful, Grot! As always!

The '66 catalog says the X500 comes with "Deluxe gold-plated pearl grip non-slip tuning pegs" which sure look like Kolbs in the pic. The pic shows an earlier model but says it comes with AntiHums. I'm sure Hans' book has better details but I just got a coffee bean delivery so it's espresso time!

Nice '64 GAD!

I've yet to own any Guild made after '63 but something like your '64 CE-100 D would be a nice step to take.....
I know not the character and joys of the various Guild humbuckers!

I do have a nice '61 CE-100 D with a pair of great Franz pickups.

My fantasy Guild (that probably was never built) is a CE-100 D with DeArmonds like an early Starfire.
I guess in my mind it could be a described as a deep bodied Starfire II or III (if one has to have a Bigsby)....possibly mahogany with that muted transparent cherry finish.
But black would be just fine....ah well its a nice dream....

Enjoy that new addition....

Not a Cherry finish, but I think this would do!

Thanks Hans....why am I not surprised?

And I'm not fussy....I'd take that one!
If only the good dreams would come true but one can't pick and choose.

I was thinking if there ever was such a thing you'd appear and show me one!
What year is it? (Let me guess....early to middle 1961?)
And was it a custom order or some such?
