For the archtop fanatics in our group, I am thinking of selling my 1946 Epiphone Deluxe with vintage DeArmond 1000 on a "monkey stick" pup. The only reason I'm considering sell this guitar is that I feel that I need a "Gibson sound" from the L-7 model. It's a weird decision, but you who crave archtops know what I'm talking about. Let me know if there is any interest in my Epiphone Deluxe with DeArmond pup (vintage). My asking price is 4,600. thumbnail_IMG_8273.jpgthumbnail_IMG_8274.jpgthumbnail_IMG_8275.jpg
Thanks,
Rich

What a pretty headstock on that, Rich! Good luck with the sale. Just curious, is that split trapeze tailpiece typical for that period?

That's right. It's the Frequensator Tailpiece, patented by Epiphone. I'll post more pics with the DeArmond vintage 1000 pup tomorrow.

The best sounding and playing archtop I’ve ever played was a ‘40’s Epi. That is a beautiful guitar . Out of my league, but it’s going to make someone very happy.

Shihan, the reason my considering selling my Epi Deluxe is that there is a discernable difference between the sound of a Gibson L-7, for example (which is simply an L-5 with less bling), and an Epi of equal condition. The Epis have more cutting power than the Gibbys. I want a more rounded sound from the Gibby then I'm getting with my Deluxe. Not to say, that the Deluxe isn't a sought after model for what it does.
