For many years, I had no earthly idea what they meant by T.A.M.I. Show, So here it is. JB and the Flames just destroyed! And The Rolling Stones were watching backstage scared completely #%&$less of having to follow THAT performance!

I have the DVD and it is outstanding.

I mean, look at the lineup!

It is a little surreal seeing all these acts in a musical revue setting.

Drove to Sanibel and Captiva Islands today. My god they got hit hard by Ian! I teared up a few times, but am still glad I went and saw it firsthand. Nature itself got severally walloped as well, but that will rebound in time. The human footprint though, What I fear now is the complete mega rich takeover (it was leaning that way for decades, but still had plenty of shanties to be found. As insurance claims drag on for locals while their businesses are closed permanently..it doesn’t look good for keeping the real flavor of that place going

Absolutely

If a tree falls in the forest and no one hears it, does it make a sound?

Absolutely - and while the intensity of the sound decreases by 6dB @ every doubling of the distance - we can calculate the size of the forest where nobody would hear the sound of a falling tree. ( perfectly synchronized wave - like ideal laser - would be 3dB )

Just for convinience - let's assume that the peak SPL of falling tree at 1 meter of the landing point is 100dB - we can start adding distance and reducing sound levels - ( I'll do this metric, because it is WAY easier than "inchic" )
- at 2 meters we have 94dB - 4 meters 88dB - 8 meters 82dB - 16 meters 76dB - 32 meters 70 . . .
- . . . 2048 meters 34dB - 4096 meters 28dB - 8192 meters 22dB. . . and so on

8192 meters is roughly 5,1 US miles - if condition were perfectly still environment - no breeze - no traffic - no birds ot other noises - a young person w good hearing would be able to hear that - assuming he/she/it/wtf was not wearing earplugs . . . .

Just to add final measurements

5,1mls @22dBSPL - 10,2mls 16dB - 20,4mls 10dB - 40,8mls 4db - and finally - 81,6 miles -2dB SPL - that is below average hearing sensitivity level.

Therefore the answer to question about hearing the tree fall - in perfectly unnatural ideal conditions would be: If every living thing w hearing similar or worse to human hearing would be at least 80 miles away - then nobody or no-nothing would hear it.

Then naturally - there are multitude of species w vast better senses tha we humans have - but I leave it up to you to decide if it is worth of calculating.

Beware of spending a $2 bill​

Judging people’s characters for spending $2 bills is largely a thing of the past, but it can still be a tremendous hassle. Because people in positions of authority are often stupid, there are numerous recent incidents of arrests and police investigations that began when a citizen tried to use a legit $2 bill.
