Working as a waiter at Border Grill in Mandalay Bay Resort for the 10 years before my retirement gives me some perspective on this subject, Canard. People and their choices are driving the world slowly mad. It's a two story restaurant with seating and kitchens on both. LOTS of seating. I was upstairs one day with the cappuccino/espresso machine downstairs, and this lady said, "You probably don't have cappuccino do you. I said yes, we did. Then she rattled off, "I'll have decaf, triple goat milk foam, blah, blah, blah..." I said, no we don't have that. Then she said, "Well what ARE my choices?" I said, "We have cappuccino. Your choice is do you want it, or not?" She looked like I'd just run over her dress with a tractor. People have gone insane. It's true.

I replied, “A coffee, please.” She looked confused and said, “No, I mean how do you want it?”

I'm ready to go back to boots full time. Around 25 years ago I found that the laces on canvas shoes would not stay tied and I figured that "...well
I guess since they're made overseas..." but now even on the few American made shoes I can still find I'm having the same problem so I'm guessing
all laces are made in Asia out of Teflon coated rice noodles or something...

Rest assured that it is not just you. I experience the same thing all the time. I find that flat laces generally stay tied with just a conventional shoelace bow. Round ones do not, never--a double bow is always required.

Tie the bow, take the loops and tie again. It's harder to untie but they are less likely to come untied on their own. Or, tie the bow and tuck loops and ends into the shoe.

My dad taught me how to tie a shoe in wellies. The laces were huge. I was like 5. And I still do the rabbit ears...to this day. Some stuff, you learn one way, it always works, you just never change the process.

It's ChineseNewYear. Happy Year of the Rabbit.

I was 8 years old before I found out rabbits don't come from Easter Eggs. Coming as it did on the heels of the Tooth Fairy's OD and the assassination of Santa Claus, I was severely traumatized and am still working through the issues.

As I age the number of shoes with Velcro or are slip-ons is steadily increasing.

I have a pair of shoes with round laces I've had for over 20 years and I've always had the problem with them untying I have another pair of shoes with flat laces I can tie them and they stay tied. Unfortunately the ones that won't stay tied are more comfortable the ones that will stay tied are a little snug😳

So, uh, in 20 years, I think I might have tried some flat laces in those round-laced shoes? :p

Actually I first had the problem on the flat cotton laces on sneakers, so I bought longer ones when the originals kept breaking and could do the double knot thing. Maybe my instep is too high but the laces on the rest of my shoes are never long enough to tie the loops. As to the way I tie my shoes, back when we first dated Vicki burst out laughing the first time she saw me tie my shoes. "You're tying them backwards! It's like you're tying someone else's shoe for them!". Well, I'd pretty much had worn only cowboy boots through 5th. grade so it was rather a low priority skill to me. Lace up boots with speed lacers
are o.k. as I stop before the highest pair and then have enough length to double knot, although often those laces are those really skinny waxed things.
Time for a new pair of Justins or Double Hs...

At this point in my life running errands counts as "going out".

I'm finding the easiest way to organize my stuff is just to get rid of most of it (the guitars and amps are trembling in fear).
