Multiple guitars

I have accumulated enough gear over the years to open a music store or at least a booth in the flea market. Guitars, basses, mandolins, banjos, amps pedals, studio gear, mics, cables, etc.

One of my retirement activities will be to pare it down and sell it off save for a few favorites and the band PA.

If I was able to remain in the same place for long (i.e. a place that I liked, where I had work, and knew all the nice musicians I needed), I'd 1) keep searching for good opportunities 2) enjoy playing them a bit, and quietly get to know about them, 3) give a nice opportunity to my students to buy a worthwhile instrument at a rare price later...
There's no need to make it stupid, a greedy bad habit or an addiction...One can use it as a way to save money for when they'll live on retirement facilities too, with little earned and much to spend on various doctors and other compulsory things possibly :). For now, sell the wives instead !! :ROFLMAO: (just kidding in this last bit of course !)

they'll live on retirement facilities too,
To completely veer this reminds me of a friend who recently moved into a retirement community. She worked as a church organist and music director. She plays harp and uses her grand piano daily. It took several years to make the decision to move and one of the driving factors was a place with space for the harps and the piano as well as an appropriate level of soundproofing. One compromise is that two of her five harps have moved on to other custodians. But I should ask her why she needed five harps. I suspect the reasons would be similar to the multiple guitar reasons - sound different and tuned differently.

This post makes me feel better about owning ten acoustic guitars. But LTG has a lot to do with why I own five Guilds.
You guys are both a positive and a negative influence. And I thank you.
If you ever feel bad about having too many guitars, just look to @GAD, @The Guilds of Grot, and even @richardp69. They’re all local heroes here!

Grot’s name should be first. :)
I wasn't sure which one of you had more!

Heck, even I'm no bargain in that respect. Two new Martins in the last few weeks.

It was a retirement gift to myself. Yeah...that's right!

Gosh, I feel so disrespected. I'm only an "even richardp69." Not even in the conversation I guess. Well, that's ok, just the story of my life. Just kidding Sandy, I know I'm just a boy in the presence of real men.

Well, from what I can see, you got one more today!

Respect around here is earned by the "Guild Total" in your sig!

Depends on what you mean by "multiple". Is that 2, 5 10, 50??? Personally, I lean more towards about 60. or at least I rationalize it that way.

Well everyone needs a hobby ! 😂🤣🍺
