Hello all. One thing about my JF55 that I wish was more pronounced is the "rippiness" of the bass E string. It's just a little flat to me. Now, I need to take my JF55 in for some work, since I think the string break of the low E is a bit shallow AND the saddle itself has always seemed to sit a bit shallow (i.e. the slot is sort of shallow) on the base E side. I believe the saddle is bone. Now all that said, should having the slot cut deeper with a correspondingly taller saddle (even a bit taller than just to offset the deeper slot cut to allow for more string break) on the low E side improve my bass resonance? I guess I figure it will because the saddle will then be that much closer (i.e. cut deeper) to the top after the surgery. Does any of my babbling make sense?
I use D'Addario phosphor bronze EXP lights, and tune to standard tuning. The upper strings sound fantastic and full. I just want some more rip from the low end. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I really don't want to change strings as I like the feel of these, and I can't imagine strings will make a big difference, even mediums. I feel it's more to do with the transfer of vibration to the top which is failing somehow. Thanks!
