I like my M-75 so much I pulled the trigger on a new DeArmond solid body. This one does not have the model number embossed on the truss rod cover, but I believe it is an M-72. It's definitely lighter than the M-75 and has a flat top. The headstock is also different; similar in shape but smaller/narrower. Finally, it has a stop tailpiece instead of the harp on the M-75.

Is this an M-72?

The serial number is KC01015578. Based on replies to my posting last week, I'm assuming it was made on 2001. Am I correct?

Thanks

As for the year, 2001 is correct. "KC" I believe stands for the Korean plant, then 01 is 2001. The rest i can't really help you with.

Your guitar looks basically the same as this M-70 on Ebay, so perhaps that is the model DeArmond you have. I'm not familiar with this particular model myself so I couldn't say for sure.

As for the bridge and tailpiece combo, I have an S-73 with the tunematic and straight tailpiece instead of the angled brass Guild-style tailpiece. The S-73 was manufactured with both so it wouldn't necessarily change the model you have to have one versus the other.

Lastly, the serial numbers. Ugh........there's no definitive answer on that one. Information is scarce. Everyone's best guess is that "K/C" stands for "Korea," "Cort" factory. The first two digits are most likely the year. My S-73 begins "K/C 01..." so it is most likely from Korea, 2001.

Hope that helps.

Yup, M-72, what others said is right (korea and date). Gold tones, setneck. They had a number with the prettier tops, FMIC called it a "cap", but it is a very thin veneer of the flamed maple. I suppose that's better than the infamous photoflame tops of yesteryear!

Your guitar is definitly a M72. Very nice guitar. I owned a few over the years including a nice burst like yours. As humbucker models go the M72 is my preference. I wish they would of offered a M72ish guitar with 2k single coils and Digsby. Tha would have been a great model.
