I recently acquired a Tacoma D55, marvelous sounding instrument, I have been playing it with lights (Martin Phosphor bronze Authentic Lifespan). I was considering putting mediums on it. Any thoughts, is it built to handle mediums?

I have switched my Martin D18 between lights and mediums, so I am familiar with the difference in sound and neck differences, however, Martins are built to handle mediums. How about the D55 Guild?

I think any dread sized guitar should be able to handle mediums. I don't think you'd have any issues on a D55.

Guilds love mediums. Most of my 6 strings have them.

Don't touch that truss rod!
Why is that?

When I bought the guitar it was set up for fingerpicking, so when I dig in with my pick there was some string buzz. I did tweak the truss rod about 1/8 turn, got rid of buzz. The high E string seems a little quiet, though. Would that be the reason?

i should have said "Don't touch that truss rod unless absolutely necessary." Changing to mediums will not automatically require a truss rod adjustment.
