As some of you know, I have numerous medical conditions that require regular visits to medical facilities. So, with several upcoming appointments, I was interested in how they would be dealt with. Bear in mind, even though CTs governor has been on top of the pandemic for a while, we have, last I saw, the fourth largest number of infected persons. So, here's what's what. My diabetic specialist changed my appointment to a phone call consultation, she will call me at the appointed time. My regular visit to Smilow Cancer Hospital has been changed to a video.one. However, not much can be done about the need for blood tests other than a trip to a lab. The one I usually use is closed to walk-ins, so I had to go to another one-fortunately we have several within a short distance, so only another 5 minutes drive. Here's what to expect if you need to go to a medical facility. I was met at the entrance by masked and gloved personnel who took my temperature before I was allowed inside. The, they enforced the distance by having chairs in front of the counter. The tech was also masked and gloved. I did learn from him that the lab I went to first is only doing covid-19 testing. I was in and out within 10 minutes an hadn't touched anything in that time, nevertheless, when I returned to my car I used hand sanitizer before leaving. All in all, actually a little easier and quicker than in normal times.

Same for me, Brad. Preop bloodwork was done at the in-house Quest at my medical building after the doc visit. They were suited up super seriously. Also, just to get to the doctor I had to have my temperature taken and take a short quiz of "at risk" behaviors and situations from recent times before they'd let me in. And after all that the surgery was cancelled. A followup a week later was done by phone.

My GP cancelled the appointment but since it was to discuss results from a routine blood test it is not a big deal. Indeed the only numbers that were elevated could have been related to alcohol consumption and this is not a time when I want my doctor to suggest I moderate :)

We have, however, a cat with an inner ear infection. We have been to the vet twice (and the cat is doing nicely, thank you). First time there was an injured dog being examined in the cargo area of an SUV. It thik the owners refused to let the animal be treated without them present. We, as instructed, called from our car. A tech came out and interviewed us from a safe distance and then took the cat in carrier inside. All comms with the vet were via phone and when things were done the cat, in carrier was returned. Hardest part was the lousy cellular coverage but we managed.

I've got some routine bloodwork coming up in a few weeks. Based on announcements they have made, I already know I won't be going. Fine with me, I'd rather hunker down.

All have been delayed and, honestly, glad! Waiting in a doctor's office is not on my bucket list.
