I really haven't paid much attention to fret wear over the years, but a recent restringing with fresh eyes got my attention. I had to set the action higher than ever to lose fret buzz around the 12th fret. I trust a local shop to try and level and dress as best as possible. If I need a refret, I don't know any real luthier around. What do you think of these frets?

Well, it looks like you're making use of the entire fretboard, instead of just the cowboy chord positions!

I assume that leveling and re-crowning would be enough for now, but perhaps the next time you'll have to go for fret replacement. Maybe see what your repair person thinks?

That is impressive that there seems be no fretboard divots given the amount of fret wear!

Yes, I noted the cowboy chord area has less wear, just notches under each string. I hope the leveling works. Thanks for the input!

I think a re-fret is in order.

Probably so. I'm afraid, though. My baby!

Hmm, maybe my light touch? It is neat looking back. Every bit of wear is from my own hands. The Nightbird is in great condition considering the years of use, but there are some battle scars. Each dent and ding, they pained me so much when they happened. But now, they each recall a moment, together telling the story.

My old D25M has been re-fretted twice now, no problem.
