Hello everyone! I read the forum rules, and I hope I'm not crossing any lines. This is a cool opportunity to support a great organization while they raffle off an amazing guitar. I haven't spent much time on LTG, except when reading and learning about Guilds. This forum seems very friendly and I look forward to spending more time here!

New World Youth Orchestra (NWYSO) is raffling away a 2012 Martin D-45V! The details are linked below. Tickets are $25 each or five tickets for $100. Also, NWYSO is paying the taxes, so the winner won’t have to!

New World Youth Orchestras is an organization created in 1982, in Indianapolis, Indiana to provide a unique, high quality musical experience for young musicians in Central Indiana.

More details about the organization can be found at their website: http://www.nwyso.org/

Here are the details about the raffle and a video including the guitar: http://www.nwyso.org/vintage-guitar-giveaway/77-general-information

I had a minute to play the guitar during the video shoot, and it sounds amazing! Here is a pic I grabbed while they were filming the video:

The guitar will be on display at our store, Reno’s Music, until the drawing. I invite everyone to stop by to see the guitar! Our store is located just north of Indianapolis at:
11680 Commercial Drive
STE 800
Fishers, IN 46038

The display was delivered a few days ago. After her lesson, one of our students stopped by our acoustic room to test some Martins... good photo op (pic above)!

PM or call me if you have any questions. Thank you and good luck!

Welcome. I'll stick my Moderator's neck out and say I'm fine with the post. Several of us have soft hearts for orchestral musicians and many folks wouldn't turn out a Martin if it landed in their lap. You did figure out how to post pictures and we hope to see you active elsewhere.

And I'll add my non-moderator's approval. Anything that promotes music among the young is great in my book.

Thank you for the kind response guys. I'm very excited about the new Guilds. Reno's Music is a Guild dealer and I think I'm going to be touring the factory next month!!! I'll be sure to start a thread detailing that experience. I've been playing my friends DV-52 since he bought it from Reno's when we were in high school. I've had my radar searching one like his for years now!

That will be fun. Search for LMG I, II and III for previous non-dealer factory tour reports. I'm sure folks will be especially interested in things like whether you saw any American Patriarch or Orphenum series instruments being made and what non-Guilds were being built on the production line. Since you are a dealer it would be interesting to know how many guitars you ordered if you don't mind sharing, whether there are any GSR instruments (or the 60th Anniversary F-30) still available to dealers and whether there is any discussion of changing the warranty policy so that an Authorized Fender Repair Facility (which may know nothing about quality acoustic guitars) is no longer the only gateway to Guild warranty work.

Thanks for the link Joe... That is actually my eBay listing 8) . I bought it on eBay, and they didn't disclose the poor repairs. The necessary repairs have been made now. It has the right sound, but isn't the keeper.

fronobulax - I'll look for those reports! My gut is telling me that the 60th Aniv F-30 is not available. We got ours and it sold in almost instantly. We ordered one each of the Orphenum series, excluding the the Jumbo.

Regarding the warranty information. I'm unaware of the situation completely, but I would be definitely ask about this! What is the underlying ideas surrounding this topic that I should know?

Good to know. All the chatter stopped but I couldn't tell whether that was because the had all been sold or whether they weren't selling well.

The existing warranty policy requires that the guitar be evaluated (and possibly repaired) by a Fender Authorized Service center. There have been reports that the Authorized Service Centers don't know what they are doing when dealing with a high end acoustic guitar. There is a persistent fear that they will botch the job and at least one documented case where an Authorized someone botched the job and the guitar is currently being being re-repaired in New Hartford. If I become an unhappy customer it is the selling dealer who has the most to lose but since most selling dealers are not Authorized Service Centers both of us have to deal with a third party. I recognize that Fender needs some kind of gateway to weed out frivolous warranty claims but at some point a legitimate claim needs to be repaired in New Hartford to make me happy and there is no way to make that happen. I can speak for two New Hartford Guilds but there are many owners who have expressed similar sentiments. I've also seen the opinion expressed that some folks would rather buy used or vintage because warranty service anywhere but the factory is not worth the cost differential.

That makes sense. I'll ask some questions! I'd only want the best in town fixin' my under-warranty Guild too.
