I thought I just posted this question but......
Anyone have thoughts on whether a Guild Mark IV will hold up well to high tension strings?

Hopefully another classicalizer will come along soon to let us know. Hard to believe a Mark IV wouldn't be strong enough by design to handle them, though. Are there any physical indications on yours to make you wonder? Cracks, or bridge lifting, or something like that?

I'm with you...hard to imagine it wouldn't. But, the guitar is new to me and I've only owned a couple of other classicals and those just for a very short time. No signs of any problems the guitar is near mint. Either way I guess we'll find out together.

I have two guild classicals a mark IV and Mark ii- they both have used high tension strings without a problem

if the bridge begins to lift- it needs a re-glue

when I bought my Mark II the bridge was coming up but with a reglue it has been fine

I would not worry about it- anyway the difference between the low medium and high tension strings is negligable- low tension is for player comfort and less squeaks- but I like the tone of high tension better

By the way West...... the Guild with the cowboy hat is cool- it says to me it's all about the Guitar!

Thank you Chazzy, I don't know what I'd do without my Guilds. That one is a very special guitar too.

Thanks for the input from everybody. The string site was helpful and I now know where to get gut strings if ever I should want them. It was great to hear from a Mark IV owner. Very helpful that.
I'm glad I joined and have definitely gotten my money's worth from LTG. Or, would have if it had cost me anything to join. Of course if it had cost anything I probably wouldn't have joined and then I definitely wouldn't have gotten any money's worth. But, it didn't, so I did.
Anyway, many thanks.
