So we're gutting our master bedroom and completely redoing it. This is the last room with carpeting, we're yanking that and replacing it with laminate flooring. All new paint and possibly new furniture.

Next project: building a 4-season room off the living room. I have some old retirement money just sitting out there, so I'm going to use that instead of taking out a 2nd mortgage.

Smoke 'em if ya got 'em!

I've had a similar project in the back of my head for about 15 years. On one end of the house (L shaped ranch), we have a large living room with large windows on 3 sides. My favorite room of the house. Great room for relaxing, reading the paper or a book. The Mrs. does similar stuff there. I would never allow a TV there as I didn't want to turn it into a den.

So, on the other end of the house, there is a good size bedroom, which has a great view to the tree'd backside of the yard and really quite sunny. I would like to turn it into a 4 season room complete with a TV. It would run the width of the house in back. It would involve reconfiguring my office, the present den and eventually the bathroom / laundry room. The old den would become a bedroom and the bedroom plus, would become the 4 season room / den.

I'm figuring the windows would be the big expense, somewhere between 4 to 5 K, based on windows we had replaced last year. Being an electrician (retired, like a lot of us), I can do that work, as well as demo, drywall and painting. Don't really like doing carpentry.

Dread, keep us up to date, as I will use your post as a motivational tool.

A carpenter I ain't but I am an electrician, so I will wire it.

Don't even ask me to cut two 2X4's to the same exact length!

My primary skill set is microelectronics assembly and repair, no help on this project.
