It hit me, this thing called love for an inatimate object but I swear to you it was as animate as an inanimate object could get.

I finally got to play a couple vintage guitars and a Guild in particular.

And I am in LOVE with it! A little about me: I don't like florentine cutaways nor do I particularly enjoy the cherry kind of sunbursts (I preffer more of a tobacco burst) but this CE100 seemed to be trying to HELP me get the music out. It was shaking and vibrating and it was just the coolest guitar I've laid my hands on. I was blown away.

Just thought I'd come here and share the experience :D .

I never cared much for the florentine cutaway until I really got into Guilds. Love 'em now!

Aesthetic or practical/playing reasons? Given both my limitations as a player and the fact that I play bass, any cutaway is a purely cosmetic thing. Getting up to even the 12th fret is unlikely unless I am trying to force myself to use the whole neck.

Purely aesthetic. When I started my search for an electric archtop, I was in love with the idea of having a Gretsch 6120 but it was ultimately an X-150D that won my heart after nearly 2 years of playing everything I could get my hands on....hundreds.

The Florentine cutaway is so beautiful (IMHO). Never played such a guitar until the Dearmond Starfire Special, which looks way better than a lower budget instrument has any right to look. (As it should, modelled after one of the Guild Starfires, the III?)

I've always loved the florentine cutaway on archtops and electrics. Had the same reaction with my first CE-100, Pappy.

I like thin body's and have owned several Starfire III's. Right now my go to is a 6120n Gretsch which is a thin body with a very nice orange finish.

By the way... How do ya'll post a picture in your replY?

Hi Mark: you need to open an account w/ one of the many web photohost sites; Photobucket, many others. Load your pics from your pc up to the web photohost. The host provides 'IMG' addresses for your pics. Copy the 'IMG' address and paste it into your reply. The 'IMG' address is just the photohost's URL w/ particular info on your pic; the web address of your pic if you will. The leading 'IMG' tells the BB software to reproduce the picture that it finds at the address. Reply for more info or PM me. cj
