Hello

In local news is an article about a couple who used to live in London @ 2001 - they were strolling past EMI-office and there was a dumpster - they found a folder that contained 67 photos of Beatles - taken at different times. After six years there was news that EMI & Apple Cops represnting The Beatles had sued cleaning company Crystal Services. CS was said to have destroyed archive material - including 450 missing photographs. All in all about 1,4 mil USD worth material was destroyed.

The couple kept quiet for years, because they did not know what the british law had to say about this. Now it seems that some lawyers have made it clear that those pictures can be sold.

They are still not certain if these pictures are usual press material or if they are previously unrelesed material.

Auction will be held next fall.

Here are three pictures of said news article.

Cool!

I'm thinking it the the fact they are "original" that gives them value, because I've seen almost all of those before. The top left photo is inside the "Let It Be" album. The bottom left photo I have in a Beatles magazine article. etc.

I was once lucky with a dumpster - luckily that day I chose to drive my MB Sprinter - where I sit higher than my then car - I noticed two loudspeakers on a dumpster - they were next to an old cinema - and I knew the room because I had worked there after cinema - so two of the 12 small side speakers - the boxes were nothing - but inside were pristine 8-inch Siemens speakers with ELLIPTICAL magnets - they were wrapped in cloth like in old radios - so they had never seen daylight after original installation - no UV or anything else that deteriorates stuff.

I found where the rest of them were - and they were sooooo happy to get rid of them plus some other stuff . . . - I hauled the loot in - discarded the boxes and left the speakers waiting for possible destination. My idea was, that maybe they might have been nice for some guitar combos etc.

Few years later I started to look at them closer - while no guitar amp had needed replacements - those little speakes were Siemens Klangfilm - so I put a pair foer sale in eBay - and lo & behold - they fetched about 450 € - 500USD - pretty soon someone from Japan wrote and asked if I had more - I checked them out and found that one was kaputt beyond repair - so he bougt the 9 good onces for 2100€ plus shipping.

Few years ago I found a floor lamp that might get up to 3000€, too - so NEVER overlook a dumpster.

My carage 27-iMac is from dumpster . . .

Saw this today, never saw it before, and instantly recalled this thread:
main-qimg-3b17d536a306cabcc17081d39f627a66

"August 21st 1964 - Edgewater Hotel, Seattle.

After this photo was published of the Beatles fishing from their hotel room, the hotel became very popular with rock stars and fans who to this day want to settle in the room where the band stayed."

Many other notorious traditions were begun on this day as well, but were successfully hidden from fans by diligent press agents and Derek Taylor until Frank Zappa's tell-all "The Mudshark" was released on Fillmore East 1971.

Playing "Go Fish"!

And on a similar note, here's a photo I never saw until the other day. Looks like this is during the Abbey Road period, George with his Epihone Casino after it was sanded down - and tape over the F-holes!
