The one thing that sends a warning signal to me is "There is some sag in the top between the bridge and the
sound hole which is typical to F-40’s of this early era. " I am not that familiar with Hoboken Guilds, but is this really true? I get very suspicious when someone states that X defect is typical of guitar Y, and not a problem induced by poor storage, shipping damage, being dropped off a cliff, etc..
Takes me back to my beginning guitar days in NYC at that time when Guilds were the acoustic to have.

Well we share a birth year in common. Never looked for a Martin from that year, figured they would be way out of my price range, but a few months ago saw a Gibson 1943 "banner" J45 at a reasonable price on the Bay with relatively minor issues. It was way early in the bidding and stayed that way until the last 4 hours, if I remember right went for over 2K. However, I did a little research and found that because of war needs for metal Gibson dropped the truss rod and put on the "baseball bat" neck in 1943. That immediately eliminated any interest on my part. I do like J45s a lot, and though I m not a burst fan, on those it seems to be ideal
(conditioning, hmm???).
