hi guys,
I just signed up to find out some info on the 1950's Guild X175 and X150 guitars with the white Franz pickups. I've read a bunch of the threads here and there look to be lots of passionate and informed players here. I'm a blues player who typically enjoys getting around on a thicker feeling neck with a 1-11/16" nut width. I've been searching for details on the X175 and X150 necks and some reports say they have a 1-11/16" nut width and medium size neck, and other references say they are very narrow and skinny.
I also just picked up Hans' wonderful book and don't remember seeing any details like this, but I may have missed it.
What can the experts here say about the neck size/shape? Was there a "typical" neck size/shape for different years of production? For example, can you say that the necks from '54-55 were bigger than later years?
And aside from the usual archop issues (neck set, straight neck, etc), and binding/inlay issues, what is there to look out for on the '50's Guild archtops.
cheers,
Sean
