So it has nothing to do with the "constabulator valve"? ;]]]
The constabulator valve was actually inspired by a fossil bone segment with a little pocket for the muscle that kept a pterodactyl's jaws closed in flight. So it wouldn't get bugs in its mouth.

Nature, the finest engineer of all. :)

This one ended up being the AMC Pacer?

And this one the Tbird?

Not sure if you were joking or not, but it's actually a '64 GM concept known as the "Runabout". ;)

Actual Pacer Concept:

While we're on AMC, '68 AMX "GT"/ Hornet Concept became the Gremlin:

Ford Gyro although the design language does presage the '67 Thunderbird's front-end:

Hello Corvair?

Bugeye Sprite mets Bigmouth Frog?

But I love it.

Olds Golden Rocket:

'54 Olds F88 Concept Motorama car went for 3 mil at Barret-Jackson about 15 years ago, was watchin' it live with a couple of buddies and pullin' for it every second! :)

As an Olds fan I knew exactly what it was when it came up. Still, even I was surprised when it broke 2, then kinda stalled for a couple of minutes and took off again.

Drivable concept with a Rocket V8, if GM had allowed Olds to use the Corvette template. Survived somehow when concept cars were normally demolished by GM.

More details here:

A company I used to work for did a good bit of work for the Volvo and SAAB concept cars in the early 2000s, which was pretty cool. It's fun to see the resulting vehicles driving down the road. We also worked on some hypercars which was challenging, since deadlines were so tight to make the auto show unveiling debuts at the auto shows.

Bronco for $88k? $800 was an ok price at one time. $8000 would have been considered flat silly. $88k? What happened?
30k original mi "fresh frame-off restoration", and the commentators observed, as @Opsimath noted above in post #115, Bronco prices have been on a tear for about the last 3 or 4 years.

"Big Oly"'s coming across the block next Friday, it's the "Main Attraction" for the whole auction. That's sayin' sumthin.

Oh, no no no. Only in so far as when living in SoCal just up the hill from Vel's/Parnelli Jones Ford, I'd go by and drool on it when it was in the showroom.
Now's your chance to drool on it in your own garage. See Al's post above, #177.

You gonna bid?!

From the Mecum listing:
"Call for estimate".

I can't swear to it, but I do believe one of the commentators said it was expected to clear a mil? 😃.

Or are you just asking to see if he wanted to call dibs, like we do her on guitars sometimes? :D

Well, I'm certainly not calling dibs! But Cosmic could bid and later be able to say he bid ("but alas, I was outbid") on the most famous Bronco - which might just still sport some of his DNA from previous drool sessions.
