I added a reverb and looper to my acoustic rig so I had to make it a bit larger. I took a 12"x24" shelf ($5 at Home Depot) and put velcro on it at an angle to make it look a bit cooler (at least I think so). IThe chain goes through the Polytune mini into the TC Helicon vocal processor (I love how it doubles the voice and the harmonies actually sound good, too), and then into the BBE Acoustimax processor. It serves as a preamp for the acoustic pickup while adding a lot of presence to the acoustic sound. From ther into a Hall of Fame reverb and a Ditto looper. I could have cheated a bit and used the reverb and tuner in the TC Helicon, but I think this give me more flexibility. So far I'm loving the sound.

I've had many updates to my board since I first posted, so here it is now, running clockwise: Radial Bigshot A/B/Y amp switcher, MXR Smartgate, TC Electronic Polytune 2, Modtone Power Cell, Modtone Powerplant, EHX Neo Mistress, JHS Charlie Brown, Fender channel/reverb switch, Vox V846-HW, Xotic Effects SP Compressor, EHX Micro Pog, MXR EVH90, Dunlop Rotovibe, Ernie Ball VP JR. Volume, TCE Corona, TCE, Flashback, TCE Hall of Fame, Earthquaker Devices Hoof.
Amps are: Orange Dark Terror with a PPC112 cab, and a Fender Blues Deluxe RI.
For me, it's perfection.

After 49 years of trying a lot of gear, I'm back to basics and like this setup best:

I think the BOSS RV-3 Digital Reverb/Delay is the singles best pedal ever made (you just need to spend some time to use it). I also think the old BOSS DM-2 is the best Analog Delay ever made. Unfortunately for guitar players, harp players think so too and that's driven their price way up.

These are the pedals I am currently using. It took me many years of trial and error to get to this point.
They are all keepers, for now.

T.C Electronics Flashback Delay, Red Witch MoonPhaser, Prescription Electronics Experience Fuzz, Budda BudWah,
MountainKing Electronics Frequency L.S.D Fuzz, Morley Sapphire Flanger, Electro Harmonix Micro Pog.

I've been a mostly acoustic player for a long time. But lately I've been drifting more into the world of electric guitar playing, and into using effects. I've got a lot to learn about getting good tone with these funky little boxes, but it's fun.

And yeah, I'm working my way through the cheapie Chinese pedals.

Pedalboard for my acoustics - A Radial PZ-Pre that gets run into a Roland 350 keyboard amp. I have a Reverb (Old style Boost Reverb) and a delay (TC Flashback w/ looper)off the PZ effects loop which I use on occasion, but mostly its just the PZ-Pre. PZ also has a tuner output that can be muted, which I ran to an older Peterson Strobo-Flip.

Updated one of my pedal boards last night:

I usually don't even use pedals since I just play at home. I prefer the straight guitar to amp tones but it's fun to play around with the pedal board once in a while. Still haven't got the hang of the looper (it's got one button and one knob!); I'm just hoping to lay down some rhythm parts to play over.

I have asked lots of players about their pedal boards, and most like to bluff a lot and not really let you know about it. My pedal board is quite simple, and even with a straight answer lots of folks don't understand it.

I see that almost everyone has a pedal board with individual stomp boxes. What is it when you have a master control that initiates a mix of different pedals with each setting that you make. Is this a looper? If so what is the individual device called where you can record a track that plays back, while you play something different, which you can also record on top of the first one, and so on?

Then what do you call the large rack that has loads of effects with hand switches mounted in a cabinet, you know like what the real guitar effects wizards have?

The reason I am asking is that it appears that a guitar player can certainly spend a ton of money, and not really have what you want in the long run- due to discovering something much better after you just bought some more stomp boxes. This can happen too easily when you listen to the music store salesmen, that may not even know whats best themselves.

(What I am planning on adding is distortion, overdrive, a volume pedal, and the multiple track record/play device, so far)

Thank you,
Craig

As I sit today I do not own a single pedal! I'm starting over.

Hey Craig - The big master controller pedal where you plug a bunch of effects in and a pedal that records and plays back, are both called loopers, unless I'm missing something here?

I'm expanding with more pedals now that I am playing mostly electric "lead" guitar. That means that my band mates now want a lead player, that plays perhaps slightly more than rhythm. I started with a Boss BCB-60 board, and then bought another BCB-60 board (that I can return). To my existing Byrds Janglebox compressor & TC Electronics tuner I am adding a VOX wah, Ernie Ball volume, Voodoo Labs sparkle drive, 808 tube screamer, flange, phase, tremolo, chorus, reverb, a Boss DD-7 & DD-20 delays, and a Boss NS-2 boise suppressor.

I prefer not to use Velcro or tie straps, but it also looks like the 2 BCB-60's idea may not work due to too many wires going back and forth between 2 boards. The pedal spaces get filled too soon, and my set up time for 2 boards plus an outside wah may get to be too time consuming. I looked into the Behringer P-1000, but the reviews state that they are noisy, with a hum, and most of the suppliers don't have them in stock right now.

Please tell me what you all do. Can you just set the pedals onto an SKB PS-55 or similar pedal board? Any other suggestions? Also what are those aluminum boards with the 2 handles on the sides?

Thank you,
Craig

Just playing local jams with guitar buddies, but I find the BCB-60 to be plenty for my uses. In fact, some of these pedals are used and some not, depending on which amp I'm using. A few added/subtracted from earlier post...

I don't like using a lot of effects, anyway. Just gets in the way.

OK I'm done. There's more than I can really deal with now. Just added a cheap equalizer. I do like going stereo with the chorus pedal.

+1... and your set up is more than I will ever use Dave.

A good O/D and Reverb/echo is all you need in my book.
In that respect, I get my inspiration from my "tone mentor", Greg Hilden. (Valhbruch Space Time and Okko Diablo)

Oh I almost forgot: A good amp is kinda important too. Not all amps are "pedal friendly", and the result with the same pedal, will vary immensely from one amp to the other.

All I've got is the Digitech pedal to the far right on griehund's board. I have trouble keeping track of what's going on with just that one - you guys are impressive!

That Digitech pedal requires a support group. Right now all I'm using is the tuner and a couple variations of reverb. It is handy when I use earphones. I use the two ODs and the clean boost mostly.

Thanks, griehund, that makes me feel better! A Digitech support group is a good idea - that's what LTG is for!

I agree. But I do like the compressor to smooth out my playing dynamics. Especially when backing up other players.
