Couple weeks ago I tried several soundhole PU's the local shop, decided on this Fishman Rare Earth, active humbucker for my F20, runs on 2 hearing aid batteries. .
The first Amp I tried was my Trace TA 100, dialing thu the effects I happened on the delay & fell in love. Kick in the pants.
Purely tonewise there may well be better PU's, however this one is darn nice & makes playing this little guitar too cool to describe. Fun factor went up by many multiples.
The surprise came when I plugged it into the Silvertone. Tone is pure 60's back porch, magnificent. Can't play it hard, things just get muddy, but pleckt gently like an electric she'll steal your heart. Late in the evening, the Mrs Sleeping, F20 plugged into the Silvertone set about half volume, the little beggar's just magic.
Mr P recommended the Baggs Para Acoustic, while I wouldn't say it's an absoulte necessity, it's a nice little box, doesn't perform miracles but it does a lot.
The cord is an issue, PU's designed for an end pin jack & I'm reluctant to drill.
