I don't get upset, I just switch the channel when some noted singer puts their own take on Traditional Christmas music. Give me Andy Williams, Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, and Gene Autry.
Come to think of it, I don't like singers changing our National Anthem, either.

You are entitled to your opinion.

Might I suggest, however, that a paraphrase of your opinion is that you prefer renditions of Christmas music that were recorded during a particular time in your life? People's tastes in music were formed early in life and many people much prefer the music of their youth.

I will also note that several of the artists you mention are not the writers of songs we now consider traditional Christmas music and so they are merely the noted singers of their time putting their own spin on traditional Christmas music.

Remake of Angels We Have Heard On High by Karen England and Friends is awesome!! Has some nice bass runs in the last chorus, too!! God Rest Ye in same cd is a beautiful instrumental version, too. Nice breakdown near end and nice basswork in last verse too!!

One of my favorites is Nat King Cole version of O Little Town of Bethlehem.

Best x-mas music ever was when we were about 8-10 years young kids - and we were singing it in the classroom before x-mas.

After that I have the feeling they're just adding more and more sugar and syrup into it year after year.

I don't mind some re-dos of Christmas music. I just think it should still sound like Christmas music, not dance club music.

Many well loved Christian hymns, including some Christmas music, trace their roots to popular dance music of the time, although that time was hundreds of years ago.

I like it from anyone who does a good version - just like "non-Christmas" songs. I just get tired of it after a while - by any artist - because I start hearing it in October...

I agrere, some of it gets really cheesy. But I love "Merry Axemas" Vol. 1.

And now it will be a whole year before I listen to it again.

The Ventures’ Christmas Album is not only one of the few albums of Xmas music I can tolerate, but I love the damn thing to pieces.

I get what you're saying and kinda agree somewhat. Some of the classics are great just the way we know them in our lifetime. Other's, however, are just..... like, if I hear Burl Ives sing Holly Jolly Christmas one more time I'm gonna find out where he's buried and put a bullet in his grave!! There are songs from during our lifetime that are true classics and one of the best is This Christmas by the late great Donnie Hathaway. What a voice and a super nice song.

Also agree on the National Anthem. Just because there are 12 notes between note A and note B doesn't mean I want to hear every single one of them as you create your own personal vocal exercise. Nope. There's another song that's newer for Christmas (our lifetime) that somehow Mariah Carey gets songwriting credit on although there's 5 people at least listed. Who knows how much she contributed? But it's an okay upbeat song. But when Jennifer Nettles did it on the CMA years back, it turned into a whole huge production number. Some of my very favorite people HATE this version. It's not for everyone, you either love it or hate it. But I like to watch her sell it and pull it up every year to help get in the mood.

Amazing voice, great production, and the dancing isn't bad either!! It's all a matter of perspective.....

Actually, my all time favorite is to hear people singing "Silent Night" accompanied by an acoustic guitar.
