2nd session done. Probably a little faster (except for trying to deal with a demanding Nica.)

Do you have trouble getting good samples of wood? I had a quick email chat with Kathy Wingert one time, when I was trying to see if I could get wood and have Ovation rebuild a guitar I got cheap but stepped on. She said all the good stuff is reserved for the big companies and you have to work to build contacts from suppliers to get your own supply. So stuff you see for sale online to the general public may not be " the good stuff ".

Look for specialty lumberyards in your area. There is one about an hour from me where you can pick out your own lumber. Also, there is a luthier group on FB where members sell all species of wood.

I gave up on that repair years ago, the factory was closing and they customer service person didn't quite understand that I wanted to supply my own wood. The guy I bought my newest Ovation from often got custom work done by them, but he must have known the right people.

There’s plenty of good wood out there. The internet has expanded the places to look. Of course, I’ve seen a few good sellers close their doors in the last few years as they get older, or fed up dealing with escalating shipping costs. But you can generally find what you want with a little detective work. (Or have a ”money is no object” attitude.)

We don't need to skinkin' vaccuum tables. :)
Especially for this application, a vacuum table would be more than worthless. (Less than worthless? Whichever is worse.) You need to apply force against very thin edges, while keeping everything flat. A vacuum table would keep things flat but wouldn’t be able to apply sideways force.
