Wow!!! They're really good. And that's just perfect for me. Get in, get it done, play well, sing hard, and over before people's minds start wandering ...... just perfect!! (y)

Larkin Poe has popped up in my YouTube recommendations for awhile, but I'd never watched any of their clips 'til just a few days ago. Had no idea who they were, in fact figured "Larkin Poe" must be the person making the videos. :) But it's pretty good stuff as it turns out! No matter how much attention I might think I'm paying to newer bands, I'm still overlooking most of 'em…

I like the "lap steel" guitar playing and the funky rhythm on both these songs. The one girl has a cool, deep vocal style!

Brilliant!
They do great covers and also played with Joe Bonamassa on the Blues Cruise.+

The lap steel looks to me like an old Rickenbacker that's been put in a larger frame that allows for playing while standing.

Not only can they play and sing, but they seem to really be having a good time on all of these! Great stuff!

In one interview she said she's playing a "’58 Rickenbacker lap-steel. "

But yes, looking at this picture it is in a larger frame:

Great photo! It looks like the added upper and lower bout on the bass side allows her to play the lap steel standing up like a full size dobro. That’s a clever alternative to a stand.

She’s a talented player. She’s got good touch with the bar, good intonation when hittin’ the note, and great imagination when playing solos!
