Labels....again [UPDATE]

Will I need to consider a new label?

I've started the process to turn my F112 into a 6 string. I've stripped the head, plugged 6 holes and enlarged 6 holes to accommodate new Grovers to replace the 6-to-a-side plates.

*It should be noted that cosmetic issues of the guitar and the fact that it sounds superb as a six string motivated my decision.

Sounds like a great project. You get to have a killer sounding guitar with a big goofy headstock!

I love slightly unusual guitars and special projects.

When I re-topped my D15M with sitka spruce, I added an "S" to the label inside to indicate "Spruce."

Here's the label before adding the "S."

Hey Treem,

Thanks for that link (looks familiar); now I'm really motivated but I will forgo the penguin on the headstock. The Chesterfield will stay! Nolo penguino! :wink:

I think you should use Telenator's system. Maybe some thing like "F112NT-6" . Easy to add.

kildeer I'd be real tempted to lift that peghead veneer, and re-do it so the old holes don't show. If you really want to get creative, you could buy a piece of ebony veneer and send it, along with the original pearl inlay, to a guy who does laser cutting. He could do the cut-out work perfectly for the pearl and then you could just drop it in and sand 'er down. It'll look mint!

Hmmm, I knew this was going to be interesting.
Considering there's already a little lift of the veneer at the very top of the head, it could be an option. I masked all the inlay today and started working on covering the dowels so we'll see how that works. First coat looks pretty good. :wink:

Here's the 'new' headstock. It's coming along pretty well, and probably good enough to go, and then I'm off to the bridge.

I'm debating whether to bring mine or not. It sounds amazing and plays great but the finish is a complete horror show!
