Anybody have any first hand knowledge about removing and replacing the tuner buttons from the early 1960’s Kolb tuners that Guild used on the high end models? I have a gold spare set with the diamond shaped buttons and a nickel spare set with the square and I would love to switch the buttons between the two sets. It is not obvious from looking at them and I definitely don‘t want to mess them up!

Here is a photo of the tuners I am talking about. The end looks like it should be a screw holding on the button but it is not.

IMHO, those are the most beautiful tips already. Of any tuners.

Agreed! The issue is that I am bringing an old Guild back to life and it will have nickel/chrome hardware. I really want the diamond shaped tuners as they match the year of the guitar…and they just look amazing! The gold set of tuners I have has the diamond buttons and the nickel set has the square. I would love to switch them without the risk of doing any damage as they are in really good shape. Unless somebody here has a nickel set with the diamond buttons they would sell me 😁. They will go to good use!
