Received the June issue of Vintage Guitar Mag in yesterday's post.
Page 88, "401 Guitars" column, is a full page article by Gil Hembree: "The Guild Starfire III".
A good read; brief, colorful history of Alfred Dronge & Guild,
Brief mention of Johnny Smiths, Duane Eddys & Artist Awards.
Article includes a graph plotting the selling price of a "63 Starfire III from 1991 to 2009.
quotes: ..."The chart shown here tracks the selling price of a '63 Starfire III from 1991 to 2009. It's relatively flat trend line shows the consistency of end-user pricing on this model, suggesting it could be recession proof." .........
........"Today, the Starfire III seems a bargain and probably is not going to take a nose dive in valuation, even during a prolonged recession. ......"
......."Guilds roam the foothills of the Vintage market, the '63 Starfire III is a perfect example."
I don't think you can access the article on line without subscribing but this links to Vintage Guitar & the article is listed in the contents towards the bottom of the page.
