Thanks.

I don't think I would ever mistake that bass tone for an acoustic bass guitar with phosphor bronze string or even nylon tape.

Fun watching facial interactions and they way they cue each other.

Gotta love em! My wife and I saw them play in Orlando a few months ago. It was a special night for sure, even though Jack was clearly a little under the weather. Their sound has definitely changed since the big loud shows of the 70s, but it feels like a natural progression. They clearly still have that passion for what they do. Very inspiring to see!

We've had a discussion about this before, but the number of people who seem to having loud conversations while these guys are playing would drive me totally nuts. So disrespectful of the artists and to other people who came to the show to actually listen to the music.

Some Opera houses built in the late 1800s/early 1900s were designed so that the boxes for the elite and affluent provided the best view for "being seen." Often the wealthy occupents of these boxes would chat during the entire performance -- after all, they were there mainly to be seen. Nowdays, it seems a number of folks go to concerts only to be able to tell every living soul they encounter for the next week after the concert that they were at the concert. I'd bet they are the very folks who are the chatters you hear in the video.

As far as audience members yakking it up during a performance, have any of you ever been to a Chinese opera? I went to one in San Francisco back during the early 1970s. The audience seemed to be there to socialize (throughout the entire opera) as much as to enjoy the performance. And they had to talk loudly to be heard over all those clashing cymbals and gongs and the falsetto singing.

Ain’t never seen one but heard lotsa Cantonese opera!!! Went to an opera troupe’s rehearsal in canton once. My aunt-in-law was one of the singers!! Some of the operas are like 4 hours long!! My wife said she remembers going to them in Canton when she was little. Everyone sitting around on hard wooden benches eating peanuts during the shows. She used to nap during the operas, iirc.
