I heard about this last night, and it's terribly sad news. Now that he and Lonnie Smith are both gone, the two greatest pillars of the Hammond B3 have left us. I saw them both many times at the old Jazz Standard in NYC, which unfortunately didn't survive the pandemic. I liked that place so much better than the better known clubs in the city. Not a Guild guy, or even a guitarist, but he often had great guitarists in his bands.

Philly's produced a ton of jazz players over the years, not just on B3,Sorry to hear this. I've always loved organ combos - Joey, Lonnie, Shirley Scott, Jimmy Smith. I have a B-3 playlist that ends up as a soundtrack to cookouts.
Wonder why so many B-3 players come out of Philly?
