Hi everyone. New member here. I just missed out on a nice JF-30 for a good price.
I’ve found another and it’s priced way higher. I don’t have the cash but am perhaps looking to trade my Martin 0-18.
guilds are very scarce here in Australia, so I’m not sure of the value of this particular guitar. How should it be valued against my Martin? More/similar/less?

thanks in advance for any thoughts :)

Hello and greetings.

I recently saw that guitar too but can’t remember where ??

When I try to value something I look in Sold listings on Reverb and compare from that perspective.

In this example, I think $3500 AU is pretty high (approx $2400 US??) but as you say it’s a rarer find here in Aus.

I’d also want to check it out in hand for that money as well.

I know nothing about Martin so I can’t help you there but maybe some good people here might chime in on that.

I guess you need to figure out if it’s worth it to you? Wether you’re prepared to pay a premium price for it. Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Not sure if guitar center could ship to you but they have one with a stunning striped neck for $1,300 US. I'm cheap tho.

The JF30 is a somewhat de blinged version of the guitar formerly known as an F50, which is the top of the line maple jumbo.

I have the 12string version, the JF 30 12..

THey can be exceptional. I would love a JF30 to go with my JF30 12

Sorry you missed out on the reasonably priced one. That other one is way overpriced. Of 37 sold on reverb, some really nice ones, none went higher than $1800 US. The JF30 is a fantastic jumbo Guild!

In US dollars, that one is almost $2400, which is at least double what they sell for here, but I don't know much about the Guild market in Oz. I do know from experience that it's practically impossible to ship guitars from here to Australia due to the size of the box required.. Might be cheaper to fly here and bring it home with you on the plane!

Shipping US to OZ can be done but the price is high and variable with respect to insurance taken.

I have bought in a few Gretsch (so larger sized) from US and shipping was about $200 > $250 Au. (refe

This then adds to the total cost and if that’s over $1k then you’ll be hit with import tax so it gets pretty expensive.

There are just a lot fewer vintage guitars here so the prices are higher. I just think the one the OP references is a bit on the high side (IMO etc etc).

The price has dropped on this one and is open to offers now?
