So I recently bought a new (or Zzounds said it was new at least) Jetstar JT

The unit came with the bridge pickup almost completely sideways
One of the springs under the bridge pickup was bent, the other was broken
Chunks of paint around the fretboard and neck missing
Various scuffs and scratches in the finish

This is the third time Zzounds has sent me a returned guitar and told me that it was brand spanking new.

So far I really like my first Guild product (besides what was clearly a Zzounds mistake) but I'm planning on swapping out the pickups. I tried them for a few weeks and they just weren't for me. I play heavily overdriven/distorted music and really would enjoy something hotter.

I'm swapping out the neck pickup for a GFS Dream 90 and the bridge is being swapped out for my favorite pickup.. the Dipinto P1000 (good luck finding information on that one)

Any tips or help would be greatly appreciated. I will update you with my progress.

Welcome.

I would have returned that guitar in the condition you've described.

The Jetstar has LB pickups which are essentially mini-hums. Are you sure that your chosen pickups will fit?

They gave me major discounting so I essentially got the guitar for around 360. I'm going to need to route out the guitar for the pickups I have selected, but I'm ok with that. I was not a fan of the LB-1s. Although they sounded unique they were extremely bright and had a twang, which is the opposite of what I like. The main reason I got the guitar was for that amazing mahogany body. Love the neck, body, and everything else seems ok. This is going to be my traveling guitar so I do not mind a little bit of roughness around the edges.

Sometimes I'm afraid if someone doesn't buy my Jetsar I'm going to shoehorn a Dimarzio super distortion in it ;[]
I would like to see that. What did you think of the LB-1s that were in that new Jetstars?
