Not wanting to clutter up the Power Trio thread, how about a Jazz Trio thread?

One of my favorites, and I saw them live back in '75 (or maybe '76) in a small venue:

What blew me away was when Jack moved over to the piano and killed it.

I was thinking the same thing on my way to my annual wellness visit this morning, thought of a bunch, but here's one that may be new to a lot of you. Red Norvo Trio with some cats named Mingus and Farlow. Tal was one fast an clean player, and Mingus, of course, went on to a great career.

Other trios that came to mind were the Jimmy Smith Trio, Oscar Peterson Trio (the drumless one with either Barney Kessel or Herb Ellis), plus some non-guitar trios, Oscar again, Bill Evans Trio, Ellington with that dude Mingus again and Max Roach, Bud Powell trio, too many to go into, but I will post some others in the future.

Saw this guy in New York when we vacationed there last year (earlier this year?). He was great! John Pizzarelli!

I saw him live also, puts on a great show, and a very talented guitar player. Although it was a quartet with a a sax player, not a trio.

He had the same piano player as in the video when I saw him. Incredible player!

I quite like this Jazz/Blues trio. Pete York, former drummer for The Spencer Davis Group, Brian Auger, of Brian Auger, Julie Driscoll and the Trinity fame and Colin Hodgkinson, bass player extraordinaire, formerly of Back Door, Alexis Korner, Whitesnake and many other bands, currently with Ten Years After.

I was lucky enough to see Colin perform in Aberdeen, when he was the support act for Bill Wyman's Rhythm Kings. As great a band as Bill had, I felt that Colin, with just his bass and no backing group, blew them away!
