Not a J30, but there is a JF30.

It's possible that a JF-30 might have been made with the label marked "J-30" -- errors like this were known to happen. But I'm not aware of there ever being a distinct J30 model.

Pictures, if your contact can provide any, might help solve the riddle.

The J30 model designation was used for the JF30 as well as the JF30-12. The serial number will tell you what period the guitar is from.
