Who knew but incredibly loud cat like yowling on the hill next to our house had me researching this.

Cougars, Mountain Lions, Pumas have a 50-150 mile range (129-388km), depending on age and ability to find dinner. A male can be 8' and weigh 180lbs. More typically 120 or so lbs

Detroit is 142 square miles, 367 square kilometers.

Checked with a neighbor this morning, and it also happened by her house, and somebody else's house, and another neighbor found turkey leftovers and a deer carcass up behind his house. The Cougar activity here is off the charts.

It's because of the fires. We just had 132,000 acre fire next door, part of a "historic fire event" with high winds resulting in 80 fires and nearly 300,000 acres burned in a day. Just one of the fires went on to burn 337,000 acres, 526 square miles, 1363 square kilometers.

We just had 5 milllion acres burn up in the west, 7812 square miles, 20232 Sq km of lost habitat

These are normally very solitary animals, I've never even seen a live one, but I have a feeling that's about to change. I've seen ones that have been hunted with dogs, treed and shot by the local game warden after eating three goats in 2 days, the people with the goats had kids no bigger than the goats. Big kitty.

The days of nature encroaching on man are upon us.

Glad you clarified that. The thread title had me worried that you might be sharing something about this guy:
