Okay, I admit it. . . I love blue guitars  there it's out, now you all know. Why didn't Guild ever make a Bluefire?

I almost bought one just like it from Rockley Music in Denver, sometime in the late '80's when they were one of the major Guild sellers and had several walls of Guild stock on hand. That was one of my all time favorite guitars, I think they had a price tag of just under $1000 on it at the time.

I have just been contacted by the winner of this guitar through my "Guilds Of Grot" website. He thinks I'm some kind of expert on Guilds because of my collection. Sadly he doesn't realize it's just because I have more money then brains.

Anyway, he wanted to know if this was a custom or a NAMM show guitar. Can any of you Guild insiders shed some light on this thing?

I'm hardly a Guild 'insider' though I did have a brief history with Guild in the 70's with a very limited perspective. That said, this was a standard available finish on some Guilds in the 80's. Rockley Music had several on display and they were never noted as anything other than a standard production model, I almost bought a twin of that 12-string myself. I have no idea how common they were, perhaps Hans has some insight on how many were produced in similar finishes.

Are you sure you want to admit that in today's economy? Or are you doing better than the rest of us?

I'm pretty sure I have seen red, blue, white, green and black finishes on acoustic Guilds from the late 80's and early 90's so I'd agree that it might be rare but is probably not custom

I've always been a fan of the blue guitar. Maybe it's a Wallace Stevens thing, I'm not sure. I'm not really fan of colored acoustics (sunbursts are a different animal), but there's something about blue that totally works for me.
