I recently inherited this gem. if the table I found on line is accurate (and I'm reading it correctly) it should be a 1960 or so, build. It plays great. neck is straight and true. Tone is very nice. It's quite playable. But I'm hoping folks on this forum can confirm what I think I know about it's age and also more details. Is it a mahogany back and sides with sitka spruce top? The headstock inlay almost looks like gold or yellow mother of pearl. The purfling is quite yellowed, maybe patina, maybe cigaret smoke...
There's also some cosmetic krackling on the sides and back, even the neck, but not the top. Anyway, any insights would be greatly appreciated. I will enjoy playing her regardless, but would love to know more about what I've got.

Someone smarter than I will be along shortly to confirm but I imagine it is not quite that old. I would imagine 80's +/- but I'd wait for confirmation

your timing is good see this thread:

Yes to the hog back and sides and sitka top.

Marvelous guitars, my D-40 will never leave me.

Please be careful, Guilds are like potato chips.....ya can't stop at just one.

Welcome. I'm reading 129322 as the serial. Six digits with a leading one makes it 1975-1979 and if I read things right I'd propose 1975. This is based on online serial chart which is often correct but sometimes wrong or incomplete.

Thanks! yes, I too, found a different serial number chart and starting thinking more like 1975. I may have left a digit off the first time through.

I always dug the Florentine cutaway on this model. For some reason the D-35 to my knowledge never came in a cutaway and the D-25 did though it was a shallower and less radical of a cutaway. Odd.

Is that your garage? Looks like a serious man cave to me. I like it! (y)
