Welcome Zulu and Congrats on the Detonator. Excellent guitars. I've ended up with 6 Detonators over the past 20 or so years. Mine all have the Dimarzio passive pickups that were standard. Mine all have the Guild/Mueller bridge and the trem/vibrato arms are press-in style. The Sperzel locking tuners were standard issue. Earlier Detonators (like below s/n 100050) did not have a push/pull tone pot to split the coil of the bridge humbucker. After around #50 the tone control was also a push/pull coil cut. Earlier ones also only said Guild on the headstock. I don't have any experience with the EMG pickups option. Very well built guitars. Have fun with it. -tonepoet

Thanks tonepoet I've been really enjoying the Detonator. I bet the coil split is a handy tone option.

I learned that my bridge is missing a small set screw which will adjust the tension to the press in trem arm. I'll have to bring the guitar with me to a hardware store to find a little screw. One of these days...

Hi Norrissey, Detonators weigh in the Strat range, say 6 pounds or so. Some heavier than others. They were spec'd as having poplar bodies, but I do have a white one that has a mahogany body (as seen in hidden places where you see the mahogany). -tonepoet

Thanks tonepoet! That sounds like a nice weight. Not shopping right now, but hopefully one day before to long I can snag one : )

Hi Zulu, Here's 4 of my 6 Detonators. Another black and an "Electric Blue" are missing from this line up. The white one did not come to me stock, but it did have one of the original DiMarzio VS-1 single coils. So it has the VS-1 in the neck, a DiMarzio Class of '55 in the middle and a Bill Lawrence L500-C in the bridge. All my others have the stock DiMarzio VS-1's and PAF HB's in the bridge.

None of mine have the EMG pickup option.

Hope you're having fun with it.
