Hello again all. Returned from my vacation in the great mountains of NH to get buried in work, so much for being stress free. Have not found time to take the M20 for a set-up, but I did make an impulse buy on Ebay...... that always thrills the wife  Been looking for a Guild 12 string under 1000 bucks, being a fan of "burst" finishes the options have been limited. From following this board I have gained some knowledge about the Guild 12-ers, but I have no hands-on experience with the exception of a JF30-12 of a friend (Great guitar). I am hoping that I "done good" or at least didnt get screwed. I have read alot on this board about the F212's and F212XL's but have seen little about the G212, which is what I just bought "on a hunch" (ever seen a guitar on Ebay and just said "Yup....gotta have that one!".....I'm sure many of you have) It ships Monday, so I will be on the lookout for the big brown truck, I'll follow up with a "review" of the "G" when it arrives. Here is the listing of it on Ebay.....for better or for worse........I will soon be its rightful owner....

I hope my saying of "Never met a Guild acoustic that I didnt like" holds true.......

Thanks Graham, being new to the board I have kinda got "tunnel vision" and go directly to the Acoustics section, completely missed the whole "Members Cove" area. Looks like members had good things to say about it, I will update you when she arrives. Keeping my fingers crossed!!!!

Ok...............I promised a full report so here it goes:
My G212 ebay impulse buy arrived yesterday afternoon via the big brown truck. Outer box was beat to heck so I was a little concerned but thankfully the OEM case did its job. The sunburst finish is great, a few pick marks / scuffs, but overall it looks like she was very well cared for in her 27 years. The action is low and perfect for my liking, no buzzing or issues, and the sound is fantastic. Ripped through some blues improvs and she sounded sweet and booming even with strings that obviously need replacement asap. Tuned her up to pitch for now, will probably tune down to D when I change out the strings. Neck is straight and true. Overall very satisfied, got my moneys worth. The issues: 1) The serial number is stamped in the headstock and inside the sound hole toward the front strap button I can see it is stamped G212, "Guild" is imprinted in the back wood brace visible through the sound hole as expected, but there is no paper label??? Odd. Did any of the Guilds circa 1980 have no paper label or was it simply lost? 2) Very slight lift at the bridge, enough that you could get a piece of paper under toward the bass side but not enough to get a pick under. Probably would not have kept me from purchasing her, looks like a fairly simple re-glue, but I am a little miffed because another ebayer specifically asked the seller if the bridge was lifted and he did not acknowledge in the affirmative. Ignorance or deceipt? You be the judge. 3) The bottom strap button is missing completely. Anyone out there got one to sell?
So that's the scoop brothers. Overall, a welcome addition to the BluesDan stable.

Congratulations, BluesDan! Sounds like a winner all the way! It doesn't even sound like the bridge lift is too big a deal right now, but you're right - it's an easy fix for any good luthier. So is the endpin, unless you're looking for original Guild of that era. I don't think it'll hurt the resale to replace it with a new one. Too bad about the label, though. I don't believe Guild ever let one out of the house without one. It must've fallen out.

And a belated welcome to you.
Post well. Post often.

Thanks GM. The guitar is a beauty, a little bummed about the missing label, but hey, buying sight unseen can be alot worse sometimes. I'll live with it. I contacted the seller and he has the missing strap button and is forwarding it to me, so that's done. I just shot him another email asking about the label........we'll see, maybe he has that too. Funny thing is, looking inside the guitar, it dosnt look like there was ever one there. Strange.
Regards,
Dan
