72 acres? Yes, you have an ongoing need for a chainsaw...

For some of it, you could hire someone with a tractor and a brush hog, that will take out pretty much anything in its path.

With these trees the problem is that they grow all around things we don't want taken out so I guess it's going to be a one at a time venture, starting at my garden spot and then branching out from there. A daunting task, but somebody's got to do it before they come in and sit down on the couch.

Go for it. Might want to consider chainsaw chaps. They make chain saw hard hats with built in ear muffs and face shields. Dont need the ears, but they are good for weedeating and stuff.

Point of order....what is a Navigator? A Lincoln Navigator?(not a truck lol).

I 'd use the tractor.

Yes, a Lincoln Navigator - a red one!! And, yes it is a truck as it is built on an F-150 chassis (grin), and besides that I prefer to say "I have a truck" as to "I have an SUV". What I really really loved was my Bronco (full-sized, of course) which I drove for 18 years. No one argued that it was not a truck - best truck ever in my opinion. If only the Nav sat up a little higher and was just a tad wider, and maybe had some knobby tires ... But at least I can toss my chainsaw in the back, put it in 4WD and get where I need to be. I just hope I don't scratch the pretty red paint!

No new chainsaw yet. Only online shopping so far but maybe will get to the store this coming week. Truck is in the shop, thought it would be out last week but they're "waiting on a part". I think that's the first verbal response taught in auto mechanic school.

While we are waiting for the chainsaw to get purchased, I am reminded of a recent "waiting on a part" story. Recent, but pre-Covid. My car started sounding like a 60's muscle car with a barely legal exhaust system. I have neighbors I like so I called my shop. They said I could bring it in but they would replace whatever was needed. Then they mentioned that their other location was equipped to actually patch an exhaust system and suggested I take it there instead since it was potentially cheaper. I did but things had broken through, so no patching. I was given two options. One was they would order the part locally. It was in stock and could be delivered in time to finish the job within two hours. Or they could order from their usual supplier who would deliver in two days and I could come back. Price difference was about $75 and it was all due to discounts and delivery fees. I was amused that it was my decision to be "waiting on a part".
