I walked into Cintioli's just to look and ended up walking out with a Westerly D-40 that had been hanging on the wall since 1999.

Good- It's a feather, it plays like polyunsaturated corn oil, and it makes me sound good to myself (no mean feat!)

Bad- After I got it home, I noticed that the lacquer on both sides of the neck had been eaten away by the rubber hooks it had been hanging on. I got a refund, but only because they couldn't repair it at the store. Off to the luthier's. :(

They assumed that I wanted to return it, but I couldn't. :)

My G-37s got lacquer damage on the headstock from wall hooks. I don't hear it at all! Nice score... enjoy! Dave

Oddly enough, the groupies don't spend much time looking at me either.
:D

You could always paint it green - that would hide the marks

Yeah, I could do that, but the guitar would hide it. :?

What would be the point?

My bad Default - didn't mean you were doing a 'Flea' - I meant you could paint your new Guitar green to hide the rubber marks on the neck  'Course, if you did paint something else green, the groupies might look at you

Congrats, Steve! One of these days I'll wise up and get a Guild acoustic! A classic D-25 or D-40 are also high on my list. And the finish issues are just part of its personality now--your axe.
