Thanks guys.
I think the only thing I'd change if given the choice is I prefer the slightly more ornate pickguard they used on the Historic Pre-War model pictured below with the blue colored dot and outline running around the outer edge - everything else is fine.

Some may not like the satin look of the thin nitro finish compared to a high gloss finish ... and I totally get that but if it's just one of the specs that contribute to how this thing sounds ... I can live with it!

Bruce, the one thing I'd change would be to remove the pickguard entirely. THEN it would be even prettier!! Those stylized flowers and vines on the Gibson PG's just don't work for me. But other than that, what a STUNNER!! Just beautiful!!

Bruce, I personally like your plainer version over the fancier pickguard. As much as I like Gibsons (and I like them a lot!), the etched pickguards have never been part of what attracts me to them. As an example, in the super jumbo size, this one ended up being both my tonal & visual winner:

I like the pick gard a lot! And I'm kind of an anti-bling guy. The guitar is just too big for me.

When a guy can post a Gibson thread on a Guild forum and receive such positive responses I can only say ... this is a great forum made up with great people - thanks everyone.

I played one of the more stripped down slope shoulder Gibbys that I thought was nice.

With me a dread but what a nice guitar that was.... oh MY!!
I been meaning to figure out which one it was. Pawnshop wanted $1000 for it and I remember it being the one Gibson acoustic I actually liked keeping in mind that my experience with Gibson acoustics is limited to that slope shoulder, a more recent J-45 (also slope shoulder), a LG-0 and a very terrible mid 70’s J-45 Deluxe.

I don't find the instrument particularly attractive but I don't really feel the world becomes a better place just because I express that opinion :) I will, however, firmly endorse the belief that folks must understand the competition to truly appreciate the greatness of Guilds so I gladly encourage constructive discussion.

:)

That means "one more Gibson pic and you're banned from LTG for life" Bruce. :ROFLMAO:
