I will be looking at a 2006 Tacoma built D-55 this weekend.
It's about 100 miles from where I live.
Did Guild use the Dtar pickup in 2006?
The owner doesn't have a clue as to what pickup is in the guitar.
This looks like a nice guitar in like new shape.

I hope it's as nice as the pictures make it look.
Wish me luck,
TMG.

New Info.
I bought it!!
See more below.

If it's the D-tar you'll recognize by the battery loader, if they didn't use it, chances are that the guitar has a fishman preamp on the side.

Re: What Pickup Came On A 2006 D-55?

Well, I bought the D-55.
It has a Matrix Natural pickup inside.[ From Guild]
The kid that I purchased it from got the guitar for his High School music class, in 06.
It has set in it's case sense he graduated from High School, 3 years ago.
It still has the original strings on and the pick guard plastic sheet cover is still on it.

Because the guitar sat in it's case for 3 years without being humidified, the bridge has lifted slightly, so I dropped the guitar off to my luthier on the way home.
He will re glue the bridge, buff the frets and fretboard, oil the board and install a fresh set of strings.
He will check the action and if needed adjust it also.
It will be ready some time next week.

Even with 3 year old strings,[Elixor] this beauty can sing!
I can't wait to get it home and start bonding with it. :D

Congrats, Dale! I look forward to seeing/hearing her!

Did you drop it off with Tom (at Local Music)? I was just down there today picking up my D-44 from some fretwork. Tom's got a '74 D-50 hanging in the shop that I might have to look at mor closely if it hasn't sold by next spring.

How was the Green fishing for you? We cancelled our mid-June float (too much rain had Red Cr running red).

Yes, Dave.
I left it with Tom.
He said that all it will need it some glue placed under the bridge and then clamped.
The bridge won't have to be pulled and refitted.
The gap is very small but across the whole bottom of the bridge.
The neck, top and everything else is perfect.
I told the kid that lack of humidity was the reason that the bridge had started to lift.
He gave me a funny look and then showed me the Dampit that was inside the case.
He said," I have a humidifier."
I told him that he needed to add water to it at least once a week.
He had no idea that it needed water.

When I asked how old the strings were, he said they were the ones that were on the guitar when he bought it.
He gave me the extra set that came with the guitar.

This thing is brand new.
I should have asked him if he ever turned in the warranty card.
I can't wait to play it with a fresh set of D'Addario med pb strings.
Next week sure is a long time coming.
I saw the D50 at Tom's.
He was asking about $600.00 more than I payed for the D55.

Our trip to the Green was great.
The River was still high and nymphing was difficult.
I did catch a lot of smaller Trout on dries though.

The Kokanee fishing was real good though.
Limits every trip.

Sounds like you got a killer deal on the 55! Can't wait to hear her! Tom did a nice level and crown on the frets of my D-44... brought her home and put my last set of Orth bridge pins (black horn with pearl 4 mm dots) in her. Nice to have her back in the stable!

Congrats on the D55! I hope it's just what you're wanting. Post some pictures when you get it home.

"Tuned at the factory."

Awesome, TMG. Congrats. Hope the thing hasn't dried out too badly.

For the record, and I wish I could remember why, my luthier told me that he rarely just glues and clamps a raised bridge. I'll have to ask him why... The key thing, though, is that you get that guitar back into good humidification. Best wishes, and keep us posted. Sounds like you saved this D-55 from potentially lethal neglect! Good on ya'.
