Went for a Covid-19 test at the Walk-In Clinic on Wednesday afternoon. Stood out in the cold (33 degrees) for just over an hour before I was even able to check in! Then had to sit in the car for two hours before going back in for the rapid test. Oh yeah, it was positive. Feeling fine. just like a little three day cold. Staying home from work gives me lots of time to post at LTG! Got some home tests delivered and will be testing on Sunday to see if I can go back to work. Not a big fan of lines either!

When I left the Navy I swore I would never stand in another line I didn't want to stand in. Nonetheless, I have had to stand in some lines that I absolutely had to, those are the ones that frustrate me.

Yesterday I needed to pick up a prescription so I went to the drive-through. 2 drive-ups, 9 cars in line, only one person working the window. But this is the general status of customer service during the contagion.

Sorry to hear you're under the weather. Hard to believe they make people not feeling well stand in such cold for over an hour, and then send them to sit in the car for two hours. You're a better trooper than I would be!

Hoping you feel better qiuckly and that your Sunday test will also be negative. Enjoy the down time, as much as feeling ill will allow.

I never could stand red lights, that was my problem. New state legislature here made it legal a couple years ago for bicyclists to ignore red lights, go right on through if no one is coming, now that's what I call Freedom ;]

Sorry, but bicycling will never be safe if they are allowed to ignore red lights or any other traffic laws. It's already unsafe given all the stupid things people driving vehicles do.

Well the demand for testing has gotten a little crazy around here because of the Omicron. You can make an appointment at a CVS or Walgreens, but they're about two weeks out. Everybody was sold out of home tests so the Walk-In was the only option. It started Saturday with a scratchy throat. On Sunday I went out a ran a training 5K. Had low low grade fever on Monday. Then yesterday (Thursday) I ran some fartleks. Don't feel sick at all! Going out to shovel snow in a couple of minutes!

It's all how you look at it.

The worst for me used to be waiting in line at banks. But we haven't had to do that since ATMs came in -- like in what?, 30 years?

I figure with all the hours I've saved waiting in line at banks, the occasional wait at Trader Joe's or Starbucks is no big deal.

Gotta agree with that. Riding my bicycle around here is a risk. Some people actually think it's fun to clip your handlebars and such. It's like a game to them. People here are having the same problem with COVID testing. Home tests are sold out. Clinics that perform the testing are booked. To get tested today, you're gonna have to wait .... a long time.

Here's my favorite waiting line song:

I'm glad you included the link to "fartleks"...

In Education of a Wandering Man, Louis Lamour said he read hundreds of books just standing in lines and sitting in waiting rooms.

Never a dull moment!

Yeah, that's what a lot of people did prior to the advent of cell phones.

Remember people waiting in line to use the pay phones in the airports?
