I guess I just don't like Rosewood

There have been some rosewood, maple, and more exotic tone wood boutique-luthier-made guitars that I have played in shops that have knocked my socks off and made me cry because I couldn't afford them.

But generally it is a big thumbs up for hog! (y)

For acoustics, give me one the greats among the F-30s, and damn the rest!

Mahogany from "The Tree" is more expensive than Brazilian Rosewood.

Once again, I'd recommend one guitar of the kind you think you don't like, and perhaps in the case of roosewood, a smaller body. I'm a hog guy mainly, but a bit over a year ago, I bought a Martin D 35 Custom. I bought it because Bryan Kimsey thought it was the best D 35 he'd had in his shop, and made me a 15 minute video. It is a very dry D 35, a guitar a D 35 lover would not like. Over the years, my playing has evolved into a combination of partial strum with single note runs. Rarely play more than three strings. Still, I have to dial it back on this guitar. But the power and tone is perfect for the bluegrassier style I've gravitated to. Every guitar must be played to it's strengths.

After 6 months in hiding I just pulled my only hog guitar F30CE out of hiding while the GV70 is with FixIt getting a neck reset. I forgot how beautiful it sounds. I may have to look for a mid-size F?? 16” to add another to the stable at some point.

I am only playing the F30R right now. It’s totally growing on me as a fingerpicking acoustic, and no shoulder pain. I am looking at a Martin 000-15m too. So my playing style is changing out of sheer necessity. Beecee, let me know about your songbird 😀

Mikey, think you meant the F30ce, the "R" is rosewood, right? (Just so's not to confuse anybody else, and I see you've got 2 "R"'s so I"m guessing that's why it's a "goof". :)

Right now I'm happy I didn't play dreads until I was sixty. Now I can at 70. That's my theory. All my fiends who were avid runners have shot knees now. Only so much mileage in the old body.

I can’t say what’s better between the two. Either one can be dull sounding if it’s dud .
Remember build has a lot to with also .

Part of my journey was to find guitars that could fit certain niches. But that kind of changed because I haven’t written and multi track songs in a long while .

I have learned to respect the tonal differences that my herd has to offer . I think I written a song on every one .

I’m pretty sure I did one on the co-2 and I’m doing another song on it now . I like this guitar a lot Adirondack and mahogany work great together and it has just right overtones and just the right reverb and sustain .

It’s a very well controlled guitar if I can say it that way . Soon as I record the song with her I’ll put her up to make way for my Thursday Rosewood delivery. 😁
