I couldn’t resist, and let me tell you, it’s the season of resistance here in GAD-Land.

1978ish Starfire IV.

When I was in high school the guy who taught me a pile of stuff (And who I played in many bands with) played a ‘79 that looked just like this.

It looks to be in stellar shape, so here’s hoping!

Cool, congrats! I thought about that one and got scared off by the possibility that it's boat anchor heavy.

It might even have a tiny neck. We’ll see!

My friend from high school is actually coming to visit in June. Now he doesn’t need to bring a guitar! LOL like I need another guitar.

If it was a Gibson you'd have three different sets of "better pickups" on the way, and a Bigsby, or course.

What's the "mouton" lining case, vintage or late model?

Heh - so true. Well, maybe not the Bigsby...

What's the "mouton" lining case, vintage or late model?

I asked why such a seemingly pristene guitar wouldn't be in the original case, and they insisted that it was the original case. They seem like a flipper/reseller so they likely only know what they were told, but given the handle (see below) I suppose it could have been bought at the same time as the guitar and thus be "original".

I'm not a vintage case expert, but the inside of the case looks like it came from that era and the aforementioned handle makes it seem old. Either way it's protecting the guitar.

Congrats although if Mrs. GAD is like Mrs. Fro. there would at least be a wistful hope that things got unpacked before getting more things :)

Never seen a case interior like that. Handle makes me wonder if the original handle was replaced?

I don't wanna talk about it. :)

Definately not the original handle. I've seen lots of broken handles "fixed" similarly over the years.

Used to see these cases on Japanese guitars from the '80s, like Washburn and various other brands!

Looks like a lovely guitar. If it's from '79, it most likely won't have a tiny neck. I'm interested to hear what you think when it arrives.

Nice catch!

Very nice! Loving the grain along the whole treble side of that, especially below the harp tp. Great score!
