I decided "yes, I need a Starfire bass and imports are fine"... went to Guild and was sad to see Cherry Red like my 68 SF V was discontinued. I popped onto Talkbass (I was a moderator there years back, joined Feb 2002) to research Starfire basses there... BAM! this beauty was listed early Fall and recently bumped. It is in great shape, strung with Chromes... and I scored it for barely more than half the price of a new one (y)

Now to wait for shipping from CO to NJ!

Congrats!! Nice choice. I love my Starfire II in green color! I also have a 2017 model. I like that they have no neck binding.

Nice. And great deal. I snagged a NS SF2 in natural a couple of years ago. I always wanted one and glad I found it. I appreciate the unique sound/personality but find the bonus is how versatile it is for lots of styles.

I am sure you will enjoy the luxurious short scale and narrow string spacing. So comfortable to play.

Have you seen my #1 for the last 15 or so years?

but yes, I am looking forward to the whole of the Guild (I had considered a 'Club' bass from Germany while still looking for USA only Starfires)!

That fingerboard is as wide as an aircraft carrier deck!

and super thin front to back.. surprisingly easy to play. I switched to 5 string with a High B in 1990... as a guitar playing bassist, the octave lower guitar tuning plus a low B of my 7 string is the best of all worlds for me.

I think Charlie Hunter plays the same guitar, or something very similar. wild stuff! SF bass should feel like a mandolin compared to that. nice work finding a minty red one. you will be happy for sure
