My Mother, (83), fell at home, broke her left arm & seriously injured her lower back,..... again. She's been getting by on artificial knees & hips for a long time, broke the good hip about two years ago but this time she went down pretty hard. Happened near two weeks ago & she's been here with us since. Today is the first day I've seen a glimmer of hope she'll recover enough to resume some sort of independent living. It's been a good day. :)

Mom watches TV stations I didn't know existed, about an hour ago an old episode of WKRP came up, with Hoyt Axton playing a sweet looking old Guild, looks like maple. Good old Youtube doesn't have the WKRP episode buy does have a goodly selection of Hoyt Axton & his Guild.

Likely I'm outside the mainstream as usual, but I miss Hoyt Axton's music.

p.s. If the story of my Mother's misfortune isn't sad enough, try this out: My wife fell Saturday in the garden & broke her right arm. I'm getting to know most every doctor & clinic within 50 miles. Any of you brothers passing thru my town happen to be in need of "Durable Medical Equipment" give me a call, I got people.

Sounds like a serious run of breakage going on up north there, Jeff. I hope things calm down for you soon. The Hoyt links were great. I love to see him play his Guild..... 8)

Jeff,

Hope your Mom makes a speedy recovery!

Hoyt Axton-Amazing.
I downloaded Evangelina on ITunes, and played it about 500 times so far.
I'm now working on the guitar tab, but I think I need a deeper voice and a back up band

Jeff, sorry to hear about your family members. I hope they're doing better.

I enjoyed the Hoyt links, thanks. I noticed in the Dukes of Hazard cameo the Guild logo on his guitar head was covered over with black tape. I wonder why.

Thanks everyone for your kind words. Everyone is getting better,

I failed to notice the black tape on the logo in the /Dukes of Hazzard cameo. Whatever the reason it was too late, I saw the logo, clear & distinct in the WKRP episode.

I've seen two possibilities although I don't know that either applies in this case. The first is that someone is using a product but they are not happy about it, so they cover up the logo or anything that identifies the product. We have seen something like these when a sports figure endorses a product and the team or league enforces or specifies a different brand.

The second case is when the producers believe that showing the logo constitutes some kind of endorsement or free advertising or an unexploited revenue stream. "Sure we'll take the tape off. Just send us $1000."

I think you're right-on Frono. But for what ever reason that tape was put there, it's too bad. That was a nice snippet of 70s TV. For a cowboy guitar, I think a vintage Guild F-body in sunburst (20,30,40 or 50) has a great look. Cheers!

Duh! Been a Hoyt Axton fan for years, never realized he played a Guild.

...And that "Heartbreak Hotel" trivia is fascinating. Thanks, guys!

In the episode, nice clear view of the Guild headstock right at the start at about 28 seconds...

You're right, my bad. I really have to pay closer attention. I don't want my LTG card to be revoked!
