Thank you to everyone who has reported scammers and spammers. We often are not aware of such things until someone reports them and the quicker we know about them the quicker we can resolve the issue.

The reason for this post is because there seems to be some confusion about how to properly report problems. We've had people start threads, and we've had people send Conversation messages to individual moderators or even directly to me.

The correct way to report a post is with the report function, which is available on every post and even Conversation messages.

This function is also clearly available on mobile:

Even Conversation posts have this function. Though we (admin/mods) cannot see Conversation messages, if you report a Conversation message then a copy of that particular message (not the entire Conversation) is sent to the reporting system:

When you report a post every moderator and admin is alerted to the problem. There is an entire system involved for us where we can discuss and decide what should be done when something is reported. When there is a report active we all (mods/admins) see something like this on the top of every page:

We all then work to resolve the issue because none of us likes seeing reports active. What should be reported? Scammers, spammers, personal attacks, threats of violence, etc. - basically anything that breaks the rules.

If you PM one of us then that person needs to be awake and on the site to see it, but if you report something, then we all see it which greatly increases the chance of the issue getting resolved in a timely manner since we are online at different times and are on at least two different continents.

I'll take getting a PM over not being notified at all (and again - thanks to everyone who reports stuff!) but the reporting system is far more efficient and lets the most people get eyes on the problem in a timely manner.

Thanks!
