How to hang guitars without wall hangers

I needed space in my music room/bedroom. 4 guitars on stands were taking up too much
floor space. So I started looking for a solution.

Voila! I have bars on the insides of my windows. There is about 3"-4" space between the window and the bar.
That's just enough for me to jam the top of my guitar stand tight between the window and the steel bar.

Here is what I came up with.

The weight of the guitar pushes the
top of the stand against the bar - toward the window. Thus, insuring it won't fall.

It's a pretty neat solution to my floor space problem.

Far left - Guild F-65ce. Next hand-made VN arch top marcellis. (It's a monster.),
Next, the Grey Goose, (Cambodian Rosewood & Cedar top).
Next, an inexpensive VN Rosewood / Cedar top Classical I picked up over here.

3 of these are hand-made VN guitars. One is a Guild.

For just a moment, I thought you'd employed some kind of an anti-gravity solution.

Cool.

Pretty neat, Marc. I'm also looking for a solution but my only available walls are exterior walls. I've been advised not to hang guitars on an exterior wall due to heat/cold/moisture etc. The gap between the stand and window; however, might be sufficient. I remember how extreme the summer temps were in your part of the world; Saigon, right? No concerns?

My Guilds are hanging, but this type of stand works well to conserve space.

That looks good and it's safer. But my music room is so small - there'd be no space for that.
What I have works well and lit looks pretty cool. A lot more floor space. My GF just spilled
coffee allover the floor. It would have been all over my guitars if I hadn't moved them
yesterday.

I'm still working on my music room. I've got to get me a shoehorn. That's a pretty inventive solution there, Marc!

Marcellis.....Just a wonderful 'herd' of cutaways!!! By the way, just FYI.....I've heard about problems hanging guitars on outside walls, with the cool of the outside wall and the warmth of the house side, can cause moisture/temperature problems. With the glass behind it could even be a bigger problem. So especially in winter, be careful of this set up....I understand the space/storage problem of guitars....lol.....too many wonderful guitars....too little time.......great shot

Yes, that is true...

From this page...http://www.acousticfingerstyle.com/CareAndFeeding.htm

Rapid changes in local humidity are what you want to guard against. If, for instance, you place your guitar near a source of dry heat, the humidity around it will drop much faster than it would naturally, although a sudden dry spell can have the same effect. If the moisture tent of wood is forced down in a hurry, portions of it shrink faster than others, causing cracks and open joints. Don't set your instrument next to a source of heat or hang it on a wall where it will dry out. At all costs, avoid hanging your guitar on an outside wall during winter months. The wall will be cooler than the inside air. The result is a conflict between the temperature of the top and back, with potential damage as a result.

It's Saigon in the monsoon season.

Not much danger of suden drops in humidity. Even during the dry season,
the humidity is still 70-80%.

The windows have an opaque adhesive sheet coating. People can't see in.
I can't see out. That may or may not offer some protection. Also, there
are the curtains separating the guitars from the outside. A bigger worry
is the AC, which is pretty close to the nylon string.

Doesn't matter. This room needed the floor space. I had to do something.
The choice was either put them in their cases or hang them up.

BTW, the arch-top and the Grey Goosse (the guitar to the right of the lady),
kick total *ss. The arch top has an 18" bout, arched back and is almost 5"
deep. It has a huge acoustic sound. Hog back & sides, Spruce top.

The Grey Goose is unique. Cambodian Rosewood B&S /Cedar top. It has a really
special sound. I may leave my D-60 in the States because I already have
a great-sounding Rosewood guitar over here - the Grey Goose.

EDIT: I just spilled Diet Pepsi on the floor this a.m.
It would have splattered the guitars.

The windows are coated with opaque sheeting. The curtains also block the sun.
I don't think sun is a big problem in this case. Dust will be a problem. I'll have
to dust them off now & then.

I spilled a Diet Pepsi when I woke up. It would have splattered all over the guitars.

BTW, I changed the arrangement a little bit. To build in redundancy,
I put the stands inside the curtains - not outside as before. And I tied them
with wire to the bars. No danger of falling now.

EDIT: Not only did I just spill Diet Pepsi this am, I just spilled coffee!
Broken glass all over the damned place!

I stack mine like cordwood in their cases atop my piano.Seriously!
Living room temp is pretty constant year round.
Just enough room between the piano top and the ceiling for 5 guitars!
