How does one create these "enhanced links." Sorry, but I'm not sure what to call them. I see them for ebay and Reverb.

These are the ones I'm referring to.

I barely recall reading about this once, and after many failed searches, I just couldn't find the thread that explained how to create them, or how they are created.

Can someone please enlighten my tired brain again?

Thanks!

EDIT: Mods (GAD) - Sorry, but I meant to put this under Questions about the new software, but in my fiddlings, I failed. Can you please either delete this, and I can repost under there, or move this into that thread? Thanks and sorry for the flubs.

Created automatically, when you paste the link into your comment.

The trick is that the link needs to be on a line by itself. If you put it inline like this: https://gadsguilds.com it will not work.

Put it on a line by itself and it will:

Oh, so I don't need to create a link, just paste it in. Ok -- I'll try that. Thanks, GAD, and sorry for the unnecessary thread.

No worries.

If you create a link then it will not do the enhanced link thing!

For me it works on some links, but not on others.

IIRC, Frank Ford's oft-cited neck angle measurement page on frets.com does not:

If this works as I think it will that will display as a plain ol' link.

That’s because the site is ancient and isn’t taking advantage of modern web features.

Here's a link to my wordpress page which uses a fairly modern version and theme:

Try pasting my site to rule out anything with your account. There really shouldn't be anything account-related because it's a site-wide thing, but all troubleshooting helps. The URL: https://www.gad.net/Blog/gads-guilds/

More info: In order for the unfurl to work, the site must include what are called OpenGraph tags. These look like this in the code:

Code:
    <meta property="og:locale" content="en_US"/>
    <meta property="og:type" content="article"/>
    <meta property="og:title" content="GAD&#039;s Guilds - Reviews and More | GAD&#039;s Ramblings"/>
    <meta property="og:description" content="GAD&#039;s Guilds: One man&#039;s obsession with Guild electric guitars and his quest to buy and review them all. Reviews, sound clips, wiring diagrams, and more."/>
    <meta property="og:url" content="https://www.gad.net/Blog/gads-guilds/"/>
    <meta property="og:site_name" content="GAD&#039;s Ramblings"/>

If those codes aren't there, there is nothing for the site to unfurl, and you'll get a plain link. Looking at your sourcecode, there are no OG codes, and that's why it doesn't unfurl. Honestly I don't remember what I did to enable them. I'll see if I can figure that out.

Edit: It seems I'm getting them from a Plugin called Yoast SEO. I'm not sure I'm a fan of it enough to recommend it, but there are plenty of Wordpress Plugins that will provide OG tags.

Good job in hunting down that dog. Others may be able to benefit from your expertise too. I did just install a plugin called All in One SEO which will supposedly do this same thing.
