Fascinating Tabby, but I've got to play devil's advocate here. First of all, I can just see a quart of water (ok, I exaggerated) spilling all over the inside of one of my DV's. Then, do you realize how many times a string .010" thick would pop my balloon?

It is a neat trick though, and I'm sure it works, though I question if that's a much better concept than these? I have these for all of my guitars, they seal the soundhole very well with a rubberized gasket that seals the inside of the soundhole, and before installation, you saturate the sponge inside them with water, squeezing out any excess. The moisture lasts about a week. I've been using them quite a while and they're very easy to use. The folks that make them are right down the road in Terrell.

My guess is the water swells the top ever so slightly, increasing the relief.

Thanks for the video Tabby,

West
